Photos: Laguna Beach
If you're looking for guaranteed good photos you may want to head to Laguna Beach, California. While it's technically not called a photo resort, with think of it as such because of the opportunities to take pictures.
Laguna Beach, Calif. is one of the most scenic destinations to photograph. In the early 20th century artists discovered the oasis of beauty and began a movement to paint the scenes plein air style. Treasure Island Beach shown in the photograph is easily accessed from a ramp descending to the sand beach that lines the coast at the base of Montage Beach Resort. The public and various agencies took great care in approving the construction of this resort to assure public access to Laguna Beach's treasured Treasue Island.
Vistas at Beaches
Laguna Beach is the city of beach vistas, as most beaches form at the base of hills and cliffs, part of the natural geography of the gently rolling Santa Ana mountains. The pictures you take here are generally considered no-fail images, as you can simply point and press the button on what you see. This picture shown is an example of that approach. It was taken from the top of the ramp going down to the beach.
Technical Details
Because Laguna Beach landscapes appear in layers -- close up, middle distance and far away -- you'll have some fade out of the areas you are not focused on. In beach landscapes the photographer typically focuses on the water and sand, letting the mountains in the distance appear much as they would to the human eye. On those rare, crystal clear days in which the air is dry and skies are perfectly blue, you'll see more details in the distant landscapes. Most days, however, the mountains and peaks appear faded, typically looking somewhat blue.
