One of a series of islands off the Central California coast accessible by charter boats out of Oxnard and Ventura, Anacapa Island makes for a fantastic day trip. The scenery is unique and the birding is beyond compare.

About Anacapa Island
Anacapa Island has an outhouse toilet that people line up to use. It's pretty gross, but all there is. There is no water for sale, no food, and if you get a permit to camp you there are limitations and rules about cooking.
Technical Details
Because Laguna Beach landscapes appear in layers -- close up, middle distance and far away -- you'll have some fade out of the areas you are not focused on. In beach landscapes the photographer typically focuses on the water and sand, letting the mountains in the distance appear much as they would to the human eye. On those rare, crystal clear days in which the air is dry and skies are perfectly blue, you'll see more details in the distant landscapes. Most days, however, the mountains and peaks appear faded, typically looking somewhat blue.
