People: Surfers
Some of our favorite beach people pictures are California surfers.
Surfers can be found in every city, town and beach along the California coast. They typically wear wetsuits and can be found with surfboards carrying them on the beach or riding them in Pacific Ocean waves.
Pier Positions
While it is often assumed you will need a quality telephoto lens to capture pictures of surfers that "ain't necessarily so." Find yourself a pier and stand there watching the surf action. During surf competitions some of the pro photographers stake out space on piers to gain closer views. With a normal lens you should be able to capture some surf action.
Surfers on the beach
If you don't require a surfing trophy shot then wait till surfers come along on the beach. They are constantly in and out of the water on good surfing days. Capture surfers talking, walking, running and waxing their boards.
